A full day tour with a private guide to explore this exciting and interesting city. Highlights include the Ngoc Son Temple in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake, a walking tour of Hanoi's Old Quarter, the Temple of Literature built in 1076. At Huu Tiep Lake you can see the remains of a US B-52 bomber shot down on 27 December 1972 during the Vietnam War. The day ends with a glass of beer in a local bar.
Ha Long Bay
Transfer to the Gulf of Tonkin to board a wooden sail boat for a journey in Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of around 1,600 islands and uninhabited islets, of outstandingly beauty. Overnight in a cabin on board. All meals will be provided on board.
After a morning exploring Ha Long Bay you will return after lunch to Hanoi. Rest of the day at leisure.
Departure transfer to the airport in Hanoi in time to check in for your flight to Hue. You will be met on arrival and driven to your hotel in Hue.
Hué was the political, cultural and religious capital of a united Vietnam under the Nguyen dynasty from 1802 until 1945. The Perfume River winds its way through the city giving this unique feudal capital a setting of great natural beauty. Hué was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Within the Hue Citadel were located not only administrative and military functions of the Empire, but also the Imperial Residence, the Hoang Thanh (Imperial City), the Tu Cam Thanh (Forbidden Purple City) and related royal palaces.
Full day tour of Hué including the Forbidden Purple City which was constructed under the Emperor Gia Long in the early 19th century. It is located within the Citadel of Hue, which was badly damaged during the Tet offensive of 1968.
After lunch board a dragon boat for a trip on the Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda. Afterwards visit the tombs of the emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh.
Tu Duc was Vietnam's fourth emperor and lived from 1829 until 1883. During his reign, Vietnam lost its independence to France. Tu Duc is said to have had 104 concubines.
Khai Dinh King was Vietnam’s Emperor from 1916 to 1925. His tomb represents a fusion of traditional Vietnamese style and modern European influences.
If there is time we hope to include a visit to Dong Ba market (open until 8:00pm).
Excursion to Vi Da, famous for its gardens and the village of An Hoa to visit the Chat Vi pagoda and Cu Lai market. We can arrange this excursion by bicycle if you wish.
In the afternoon we suggest an excursion to the Thanh Toan Bridge, an arched, wooden bridge over the canal with a tiled roof, first constructed over 200 years ago. There is a small museum nearby displaying agricultural instruments and traditional farming methods in the paddy fields.
Hué - Da Nong - Hoi An
Departure transfer from Hue to Da Nong, travelling on the spectacular coastal road known as the Hai Van Pass, which once formed the boundary between the kingdoms of Đại Việt and Champa.
In Da Nang, visit the Museum of Cham Sculpture which opened in 1915 before continuing via the villages of the Marble Mountains to reach Hoi An.
Upon arrival at Hoi An, check in at your hotel. The rest of the day at leisure.
A walking tour is the best way to explore this ancient city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with historic houses, congregation halls, pagodas and architecture reflecting indigenous and foreign influences. The tour takes in the lovely 18th century Japanese Covered Bridge, the Pottery Museum, Chua Ong Pagoda and the vibrant local market. We also include a visit to Tan Ky House, a beautifully preserved home constructed over 200 years ago.
Today's activities include an interesting encounter with a specialist in traditional medicine and a meeting with a former tiger hunter, who will explain how he used to catch tigers using a net. The excursion includes a stop for lunch in local village and a walk through paddy fields.
Hoi An – Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh
Transfer from your hotel in Hoi An to Da Nang airport in time to check in for the flight to Ho Chi Minh city.
You will be met on arrival and driven to your hotel.
Once referred to as the "Diamond of the Far-East", Ho Chi Minh is today Vietnam's largest city, an amalgam of modern skyscrapers with oriental pagodas, where office workers in business suits mingle side by side with those wearing traditional palm-leaf conical hats.

Our city tour starts at Reunification Palace, which was the residence of the presidents of South Vietnam before 1975. Next, you will visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, constructed during French occupation in the 1860s, and the impressive Saigon Central Post Office.
At noon we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will head towards the War Remnants Museum, a sobering reminder of the Vietnam War (which they call the American War) which lasted from 1954 until 1975.
When the tour finishes, your driver and guide will take you back to your hotel.
Ho Chi Minh – Ben Tre – Can Tho
Ben Tre provides an interesting stop on the journey from Ho Chi Minh to Can Tho. The stop includes a boat cruise along the river which is a tributary of the Mekong, a visit to local workshops including a brick kiln and a weaving house, where straw mats are woven by hand. We also include a visit to Mr. Khanh’s house. Khanh is a passionate collector of antiques and curiosities and his his house is jam packed full of fascinating artifacts from Vietnam and elsewhere in Asia.
On arrival in Can Tho you will be driven to your hotel.
Can Tho - Ho Chi Minh
Excursion to the Cai Rang Floating Market, the most famous floating market of the Mekong Delta. The excursion continues along small canals to visit a rice husking mill and a shop where rice noodles are produced.
Return to Ho Chi Minh city and check in to your hotel.
